Default 72 small block water pump

The bearings in my 72 350 with air water pump are noisy.I would like to replace it with a good quality ,dependable pump.I really don’t want to do it twice as I’ve been there done that years ago. What should I be looking for? Any and all advice is appreciated.

I'm a big fan of Stewart water pumps. I've had a Stage 1 on my Corvette for almost 20 years with no problems. You can get them from Summit or Jegs.

My In-Laws live in New Ken. Cool place. I'm a bigger fan of the Oakmont bakery than I am of Stewart pumps

I will Second the Stewart Water Pump! I have one that I used on my 427 for over 2 decades with out any issues at all. They offer them in a lot of ways, mine is a cast iron body versus the aluminum but it has their impeller which moves a lot of coolant. I think mine is a Stage 2 water pump and I bought it in the early 1990's and put it on my BB. It is a big improvement over the stock water pump's quality and abilities. In an effort to reduce the weight on the front of the Corvette I recently bought an aluminum Water Pump which weighs a good deal less than the cast iron pump does.

What I have learned about the pumps for a Chevy 350 is the standard short pump is 5.625 inches from the block to the pulley mount. The short pump for a 1971 to 1980 Corvette small block needs to be 5.795.
