i was wondering what happened.... it was working one min and then the next they dont work at all. The lights im taking about are the ones that come on when you opent he door. Anyone know what wire might have came lose or something along thoes lines???
On the passenger side behind the kick panel there is a white wire that connects to the push switch...check that and there is one on the other side, but I think it's green (it's to dark for me to check now)...but maybe those got wet or came loose, or the switch is stuck down..push & pull on the door switch thing to see if it'll come out...maybe a bad switch...I dunno, just a guess :smash: :smash:
This is usually a fairly easy fix. Check the basics first, the fuse and bulbs. Check for corrosion at the fuse block and the bulb socket. The chances of all the bulbs going out at once are slim but possible. Next thing I'd do would be to check the door switch on the drivers side. Try mashing it in and out a few times as far as it will go. That might knock off some corrosion. Next step would be to remove the kick panel and locate the wires going to the switch. It's been awhile but I think one off them is white. That area there is prone to rust or corrosion. The switches are pretty cheaply made and have a tendency to go out. Anyway, check the switch for visible damage. There should be two wires connected to it. If you look at it for a minute, it will be obvious how it's supposed to work. Each of the wires connects to a contact on the switch. Use your circuit tester to make sure you have voltage at one of the wires. With the door open, you should have voltage at both terminals. With the door closed, you should have voltage at only one of them. I've had to replace all of these switches. The same type switch is used on the alarm switch for your hood. You can get a good look at it there.
I had a problem where the hot wire came off my cigarette lighter housing and touched something metal. This caused all my lights not to work but didnt blow a fuse. I only found it because I was working on the AC control panel and bumped the wire and all my lights came on. It scared the crap out of me!!! And then when I went to put it back in its right place I accidentily touched the wrong thing and the fuse shattered, glass broke and everything.
The odds of this being your problem are slim, but it gives an idea of what the possibilites are. I hope its a simple fix. Good luck!!!!
Re: inside lights not working.... (Simon Alexander)
Only power things in my car that work are the radio and windows....took out most of the fuses though. Also that damn buzzer begged to be disconnected. So very irritating....lol
