how do i do it? i cant find any swithces or anything. but i know i have an alarm because of the switches for the hood and doors and the extra siren in the engine bay.
I'm not sure on your 79, but a friend of mine has an 81 and the alarm is activated by the driverside door lock. When the key is locked, the alarm is set, when it is unlocked it is disarmed.

You probably have an aftermarket alarm system as there were no factory sirens. Factory systems used the horn or a special horn for the alarm.
Re: How do i activate my alarm? (Pacin'California)
So let me get this straight ... it is the door lock that activates it, not a seperate lock mounted outside on the driver's front fender? IIRC a manual, that I have for 1978 model year, shows it out side on the front fender.
