I working on my 76 corvette . I just completed the speedometer with you guys help
The car now has a after market tachometer and I want to use the stock again..From reading the manual,I'm thinking the pink wire runs the tach.
Where does this wire come in side the car from where the old distributor mounted up? Will it work with the MSD Distributor?
Thanking You guys again
The Pink wire is a switched circuit from the gauges fuse that would include things like fuel gauge, oil pressure gauge, temp gauge seat belt light etc.
The Brown signal wire passes through the firewall bulkhead connector and plugs into the tachometer filter then distributor cap.
The black wire is just a chassis ground.
If your MSD has a TACH cell for the filter connector it should work just fine.
Thanks a lot I was messing with the pink wire.
The brown wire, when it was attached to the distributor, did it go into the fire wall? When it came into the car did it go directly to the tach One more question
Is there a juction box,for the wire?
There is a bundle of wires for the tachometer side from main dash harness.
The Grey wires are for the tachometer back lighting.
The DK.Blue wire is for your RH turn signal indicator.
There is also a 3 wire connector with a Pink, Brown & Black wires.
The Pink wire is your switched power from gauges fuse.
The Brown wire is the signal wire from the distributor.
Black is chassis ground...
The 3 wire connector (Pink,Brown,Black wire) plugs into the tachometer PCB board.
The Brown wire passes through the firewall at the bulkhead connector.
On your 76 it is circuit 121.
There are 2 sides to the bulkhead connector, engine side harness (Left) and forward lamp harness side (Right)
Brown wire circuit 121 (Your Tachometer signal wire) is marked with the red star and that is where it passes through the cabin side at fuse box through firewall bulkhead connector.
I don't see another connector or splice in the Tachometer signal wire...
This photo shows the engine side of the bulkhead connector, both engine harness (Left) & forward lamp harness (Right)....
