Default Suspension

I’m removing my lower A arms,already took passenger side off, and had a shop supposedly several months ago was suppose to do this and didn’t finish it,but they did put the bushings in upper arm on drivers side,but inspected it,and do not see any shims at all,is that right,shouldn’t it at least one shim,the passenger side has two shims on each side,I’m thinking that shop didn’t even put the shims back in it,I have a 1981.

Ask for a copy of your alignment printout.

If they didn't do an alignment, they wouldn't have bothered with shims.

They didn’t do but the upper drivers side,they were actually putting a cam in it,and I ordered the kit to do the front suspension,now that I’m doing it myself,since they didn’t finish,they gave me the kit back with over half the parts still in the box,and I’m assuming they started the drivers side upper and probably kicked their ***,and they told me they did it,so they lied.and I’m sure their were shims on the upper,they didn’t mess with the other side and it has shims on both sides,but I’m putting new wheels and tires on soon,so will need to be aligned then.

Read @cagotzmann's DIY alignment thread. You can get camber and toe-in close enough with the tools already in your garage. An alignment likely costs as much as the tool to do caster correctly.

Just like everything else on this car, you will be happier if you do it yourself, or pay a LOT to have a true professional do it for you (and there are precious few of those left).
