Merlins car on ebay?!?

Dave
im glad you were able to realize your dream, we should all be so lucky. i wish i could have gotten a ride in it, but i feel like i already have.
I really dont understand why everyone would try and "Put you in your place." (which obviously isnt a bad place to be :D) it seems as though they would be excited that someone is setting out to break records, and do it in a C3 of all cars. Jealousy, envy, and disbelief are the only reasons i can come up with. the people who were disbelievers have already come out and said that they were wrong, and you accomplished your dream. so that leaves envy and jealously.
well i'll shorten this up and just say that i wish you the best of luck with your carrear and your schooling. its apparent that you are pretty damn persistent, so i know your doctorate is on its way.
good luck Steve, Keep in touch.:cheers: :cheers:
P.S. If you decide to part it out i know a good home for that ROD :smash: :lolg: :jester

Sounds like Project Insane Asylum is an awesome car. I hope to see it someday in person. (and hear the thing rumble too)
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
i read your post about Mike's 69, and basically the people who are bitching now, arent going to quit after you do 260mph, a 9.01 quarter, or throw 1300hp on 93 octane down at the wheels, so f_ck em. Be proud of what you have accomplished! and if anyone talks ill of it, ask, "Do yooooou have a 1000+ hp show winning vette you drive to work?"
my opinion, wait until summer to make any decisions. these are summer cars, and there is nothing like driving a vette in the summer. you dont want to be asking yourself, "Man, i wonder how great it would be to be Driving Merlin right now..." By then you can get the car a little more "Press Famous" rather than "Internet Famous" and demand a larger price if you do decide to sell. so watch Mike's vids a couple more times and cancel that ebay auction! :smash:
:yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod:
uhhh yea. :D
i remember i wanted to sell mine twice last Oct. or Nov. i was already telling people at work it was for sale, i had it up in C3s for sale for 15K which would have been a substantial loss, and was ready to put an ad in the paper, but guess who made me re-consider. i'll give you a hint, it rhymes with porvette forum :lolg:
all i can say is ignore the flak as hard as it is, but to get it to stop, or at least to have much less of it, i think your going to have to test its full potential. which its obviously not ready now, but once it is...:steering: but i figgure you want to anyway, because as much as these bench-racers are dying for #s, i bet you want 'em even more.

I will look into it for you, They have inside parking anyways so if all else fails thats "the best place to park no matter what!" I am pretty sure it's FEB 8th and 9th. As for riding down with you, thats okay. Side note beginning: After 21 years I am finally getting to know my Father, and it's funny, he has a Yellow 70 Convertable Vett. "needs some TLC which I am gonna do as soon as I finish mine" But as for some father son bonding, what better than a corvette show."End Side Note:"
Now I don't think this is the most prestegious of the shows, but heck it's about 2 miles from the shop, And a good place to get a start. Last year there was a pretty good turn out. Merlin does honestly need something on a much higher level to compete. But none of those shows come till summer.
Check your E-mail and you will understand the Superman symbolism.
Are you still planing on going to Cruise in IV? If not let me know a time this summer when you will be free amd i'll take vacation up in WA.
Any car that puts out that power at that RPM running that bad, has my dedicated respect. ill be happy if my turbo-project gets me up to 550hp @6500RPM i cant imagine 600+ at 3000!!! but in the end, number are just talk. and talk is cheap. look at the Lotus Elise. 150ish Hp and it hangs with vettes. Until the twisties anyway. then it blows them out of the water!
about all the body stuff, i can understand why everyone thinks its all custom. i mean it looks like an 80-82 vert, which never happened, the daytona louvers and front bumper are about the most aggressive looking mods you can do to a rubber-bumper C3 and add that to a GFX/Flare kit.... i dont know about the hood though.. that could stand to be a lttle "Meaner" looking :lolg:
"Just stick to your guns & you will be able to accomplish anything. More than any other reason, that is why I’m going to keep the car. I’ve made my final decision. If I don’t see it through, I will look like a quitter & then all my words mean nothing."
Seeing how much this car affects the younger guys is the real reason I have made my decision. The money isn't the big thing for me. The time is important but I can get past that by having shops do the work. I've always tried to set an example for people & if I give this thing up, every thing I have ever said or stood for looks like complete garbage. For that reason more than any other, I need to see this through all the way to the end. At this point it has nothing to do with numbers any more. It's about setting goals & seeing them through. I set a goal & I need to finish it - ALL the way, not just 95%. 100% or nothing. I'll still do my best to be at the CruiseIn - whether with Merlin or without.
You have to admit though, it was kind of funny how hard George (Toronto-C3) tried to make merlin look like a flop, and how %90 of the people called him a :troll and made fun of his ignorance.
