Default 1969 C3 Wheel Lug Torque

Does anyone know the wheel lug torque for a 1969? 80 ft-lbs? Waiting on the maintenance manual I ordered.

My original GM chassis service manual lists 75 ft-lb but I typically torque mine to 90.

Default Google is your information

Instead of having to wait on replies you do know about the internet, a couple of quick clicks and there you go.
Are you running aluminum or steel wheels ?
I do wonder sometimes.
So for those who over torque their wheel studs = brake issues / runout. Yep I know your all going to say no ?
Give the poor guy the correct information instead of what (YOU) do.

Just because it appears on the internet doesn’t mean it is correct.

This website is a forum. The definition of a forum is “a place, meeting or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged”.

I quoted the value from my factory GM manual that I have had in my possession for more than 50 years and offered my view. It is up to the OP to decide what he/she will ultimately use for the torque value.

BTW, I have seen (on the internet), values ranging from 75 to 100 ft-lbs so the reader needs to be aware of the source of the information.

I'd be more willing to trust the shop manual (which is known to have accidental errors), than the internet (which is known to have intentional errors).

If you don't have a shop manual, buy one. If you need an answer right now, search for images from the shop manual.

My 79 Shop Manual shows 90 ft. lbs for steel wheels, 80 ft. lbs for aluminum (YJ8)

Stop when the lug nuts start to squeak.

Or just tighten until the stud breaks, then back off 1/4 turn.
