Fast xfi distributor timing issues
I'm trying to setup my dual sync distributor on my Fast xfi sbc 427. I have it firing and even barely running briefly but the timing is off. I've read through the setup process multiple times and even looked online but can't find much. I found sone threads back to 2008 when I was having similar issues but I didn't post the resolution.
1. Engine ran fine when I parked it in 2011 but a rat got in it and messed up wiring. I couldn't get it to start. Decided to rewire the whole car. Solid roller lifter settings with stud girdles haven't changed. Timing chain hasn't changed so I'm confident the mechanics of the engine are fine.
2. I have spark.
3. The green and red LED lights in the distributor are working. red is crank. Green is cam. I have the leading edge activating the crank led per instructions.
4. Odd thing is that the instructions say to put the #1 plug on the cap with the "band" on it. When I do this the dizzy pointer is NOT lined up AND not pointed at #1 cylinder. It's pointed straight ahead.
what direction should the distributor point when my balancer is at 50 degrees btdc?
Should the number 1 wire be located above that point or 1-2 terminals away?

If the balancer is 50 degrees BTDC......line the cap and rotor up to #1......get in and start it....you found the problem......you are way out of phase.
IDK what the "band" is.......but it shouldn't matter........
I will add that I have never played with a FAST XFI....but this is how most two direction sync systems are setup.......

instructions are attached. The first line references the band.

I used the 50 degree method
distributor is pointed between #1 and #2 terminals. Otherwise the red LED/crank pulse isn't lined up at number 1 per the module (#1 is the first crank pulse counter clockwise to the green led/cam pulse). I might try the "trailing" edge of the distributor instead of the "leading edge" per the instructions.
