I want to see if I can Hotwire the engine and try to get it started since it’s been sitting for apparently a couple years now. So far I’ve already put new ignition wires onto the spark plugs, but there’s no fuse box on the firewall so I can’t connect the ignition and am stuck now trying to jump power directly to the starter. I’ve also put the fan back on but not the shroud or rad, and some of the vacuum hosing isn’t properly connected. What are the next steps I can take to assure I don’t burn down my garage? And are headers required to prevent the valves from warping? There’s no battery or alternator either but there’s is still a positive cable for the battery that seems to be properly grounded. Top view (before new ignition wires and fan reinstall) Front (before as well)
Not sure of your intentions but with no cooling system hooked up it won’t take long to ruin the engine, even if it does start. Can you turn it over by hand? Is that all you are trying to do with the starter? If it does spin and you have no distributor hooked up it won’t run. If the vacuum lines aren’t where they need to be it might start but won’t run for long. If you are just trying to make sure it’s not seized up, pull the plugs and turn it by hand. Good luck
Is it just to see if it’ll run? My opinion, risk is not worth the reward.
questionable wiring, no headers. Fire hazard.
you can ascertain if it’ll run or not by inspecting components
