Default Steering Column ID - Help Needed

Hello forum members - can you help me identify this steering column? Back story - the widow of a former neighbor of mine asked me to help clear out her garage. There was mostly junk, but a few GM parts I thought would be worth saving. The widow's husband had C2 and C3 Corvettes many years ago, so I'm assuming this came from something of that era. I'll post several pics. Please let me know If I need to post additional pics and/or take more measurements to help identify the column.

Column length is ~39 1/2" long
Outer diameter = 1"
Markings I see: turn signal harness D-8-67; # inside the upper housing 5944

Moderator - feel free to move this post elsewhere if needed.

Thanks in advance for your help!
