Default 1969 C3 convertible top advice needed

Hello,
Bought this car about 7 years ago out of Dallas or nearby on eBay sight unseen based on color (Daytona Yellow) 4-speed transmission and it's corrosion free state, I am in Michigan and I looked for a year and all the frames I looked at up here were fairly compromised with corrosion. Paid a fair price and after paint, a new hood to replace the goofy, cool-looking to someone L-something hood that deleted the wiper door, a wiper door, rebuilt original radio, all bushings, brakes, 1970 LT1 motor to replace the mid 70's motor in it, rebuilt the Muncie and new convertible top we are just about ready to drive. Honestly with what I have put into it I am well into sticker price on a C8 but my son and I have done everything except paint and it will be his shortly. My question is this, the convertible top in the front does not seem to latch down enough on the header to bring the weatherstrip into proper location for the window to seal against it even with the rubber tipped adjustment screw on the latch turned all the way out, it still needs 3/8-1/2" more compression for the window top to be in the proper location even with the window adjusted all the way up. Top and seals are new and the latches seem to be correctly installed, location pin is properly seated but just not enough compression to bring it into alignment. Any ideas would be appreciated. I am about ready to get some threaded rod, cap it with an acorn nut and cut to fit, but as an aircraft mechanic it just bothers me that it is not correct with the proper parts installed. Am sure that I am not the only one to have this happen. Again, Ideas would be appreciated. THANKS! Todd Hayes

release the rear completely and attach the front first, the top may have shrunk overr time and you will have to fit the front, then get tthe top really warm by leaving it in a heated garage or outside in the sun then try and get the rear to latch

If you cant latch the front alone you have to loosen the front pins and get them to line up and seat

Just looked at mine (71) looks just as bad as yours, but mine does latch down.
Something must be stopping it ?
There are supposed to be a cable on each side, might these be not adjusted letting it drop into place ?

I just purchased the video from Al but haven't watched it yet.

I concur. Release the back completely and let's see how the front sits. Get us some pictures too. I suspect we will get more ideas once we see that.....

Last time I installed a top I made it quite tight, maybe too tight, but I hardly ever use it anyway but I did put up this past week to wash it. Good thing the sun warmed it all up.....looks quite nice but dammm..... it is taut!
