I took my console apart in my 72 to do some wonderful things and finding out that putting it all back together again is not so wonderful. New console, new heater control face, and retro radio. Now besides bending the crap out of the bracket that holds the heater/air control face, ashtray, etc….where the hell does these vent cable tabs attach to?? They are completely in the way of everything and don’t give an inch to manipulate. I’ve looked through all the videos and books I can find and although mentioned, can’t find a picture of where they attach to. I did notice that almost everyone has them removed, I can see why, lol.
The vent cable tab is where my thumb is. Where does it attach to?
I attached then with the console lifted up but in the general vicinity of it being in place. Only the shifter was there at the time so not much in the way. I fed the cables more or less where they needed to be but left them off the vent doors until much later
I've been working on my 72 console and dash area for over a year and can't get it exactly right. The pictures you posted were very helpful so I'll try that the next time I feel like torturing myself. I have a bad back and problems with my left hand so none of this has been easy.
should i start a new post for this radio issue?
I'm also having trouble lining up the two screws coming out of the radio and attaching to the console through those u-shaped slots. I can't find anyone that I can trust to work on it and Corvette specialist won't touch it because I've already torn half of it apart. 🥺 Don
