Default New Leather Seats

I've been looking at getting new leather seats for my 79 and finding that almost nothing will fit in there that is comfortable, sits low enough and has enough side support. About the only seats I can find that look nice too are the 84-88 corvette seats shown here in a forum members car.
There have been some used ones on ebay for 500 or so but they're usually pretty worn out. There is also a guy on ebay selling new real leather ones for a buy it now price of 1099. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6775
I called him up and talked him down to 1000 for ones just like in the auction. In fact he says he put a set in his blue 79 and they work great. You guys think this is an ok deal for new leather seats?

It's only a good deal if it comes with the electric tracks too. The best place for this swap is the junk yard. A totaled 'vette is a gold mine. C4 and C5 drivers seem to wreck their 'vettes pretty often.

For that kind of money you can get almost new C5 seats, shich in my opinion are much MUCH nicer looking and more supportive. A couple of forum members have them and they are in my long term plans. The C4 seats dont seem to fit my **** and I am definitely not running wide back there, not yet anyways :hurray:

THose are mine! I bought those on Ebay for $450 I think. The deal was that the seller would re-cover the seats. The foam was excellent. They came with one pwr track (driver) and one manual. I wouldn't try to use the power unless you are under 5'9" because the track makes the seat sit up quite a bit higher. I looked high and low before I bought these from junk yards to custom interior shops. I would have loved to go the route of C5 seats but they were a bit too rich for me, although I have seen some guys on here with them and they look great!

Anyway, good luck! It's a great upgrade if you drive your vette a lot.

Be patient. I have a set of C5 seats sitting in a BR closet, tracks and both are 6-way power. I paid $550 + shipping for them. They are charcoal, so that's one of the reasons I got them well below the typical $1000 price. No biggy because I plan on having them recovered by a local Hot Rod interior shop with new leather in two colors.

Found mine on ebay and the seller and I took care of the transaction offline on our own.

Just curious. What is it about these seats that you do not like? I find them just fine....

Currently I have one original and one bmw seat that is very similar to the 88 seat. I've gotten the chance to sit in both plenty of times, and I just don't think the stock seat is as comfortable or supportive. I don't really like how visible the hinge is either. The stock seats are good, I just like the others better. :)
