Default Rear Compartment Pics

When I got my car there was nothing in the rear compartment (whole area behind seats) and I'm not sure exactly what its supposed to look like back there. The back wall is bare fiberglass and there are deep pockets on either side next to the rear fenders. Is there supposed to be some kind of panel in front that will cover these holes and I can stick the carpet too. Also, in a pic I'v seen there is a courtesy light back there, is that stock or was it a mod.

If some of you guys can post some close-ups of this area that would help alot. I'm sorry I dont have a pic of mine that I can show you. I need to buy a digital camera.

Thanks,
Chris

Here's a pic from the Zip Restoration store on the forum. I'm at work so that's all I can help you with now.

The holes in the rear wall are (I assume) for the carpet. Nothing covered the pockets in the corners. If you want, I can send you a diagram of the panel that I made for rear speakers. It covers the whole back wall and pockets and is made in 2 pieces.

I don't think a light was stock but if I had one it would just light up how messy that whole back area is! :p:

Not sure how similar the 77 is with the 69 but here's a pic of my '69:

Yes, at least on the '69 there was a stock light in the rear but you can't see it in the above picture. Here's a pic of the left storage area:

Damn! You hard-top/T-top guys have tons of room back there! I never really looked at anything but convertibles when I was shopping. The possibilities with all that real-estate are endless!

I've never driven my car with the top up (well, once...the day I brought it home) so everytime I look back there, all I see is the folded convertible top. Not a lot of room for speakers, luggage, bundles of marijuana...nuthin!

The grass is always greener...

Tshort,
Does that fire extinguisher get in the way when you put your t-tops back there? I am trying to find a good place to mount mine. Thanks!

That fire extinguisher was just there for a few months. Most of the pics of my car are very old and a few things have changed, especially the engine. The base that holds the extinguisher has a velcro bottom that sticks fairly well. Normally I have it right in front of the passenger seat. I'm thinking about mounting it in front of the drivers seat. But yes, the t-tops still fit. When I need to I can put my t-tops on top of each other off to either side. I've got some protective bags for them that each one slips into seperately. Actually I wish I had the suitcase style bag.

Contact Tom DeWitt, he's a supporting vendor of the Forum and he sells all the stuff to completely replace all of the rear compartment at good prices.

Tom is a great guy to deal with, look his website over and give him a call, he'll figure out what you need and sell you everything for as good a price as you can find anywhere else.
