Default Leaky BW T10 Seal Question

Y'all,
1974 L-82 BW T10 4-speed here. My frontmost shift lever seal (3rd and 4th gear I believe) leaks a little gear oil. I have read here and there about being able to just tap in a new shift lever seal over the old one on muncies. Does this solution also work on the super T10? Any other tips on this job?
Thanks!

Ya know, I also run a super T10. And unfortunately for you have never had a leak in this area.
none the less. I can't count the number of seals I have replaced over the years.
How about,..... Just for fun....... Pull the old seal, clean up the shaft as good as you can with scotchbrite. Clean out with brake cleaner, followed by a blow out with compressed air and perhaps a bit more brake clean. Then install a new well lubricated seal.
Just a thought.

Jack the car up, remove the shifter rods, and remove the side cover then do the repair the right way from the comfort of your workbench and enjoy the results. Replace both the 1-2 and 3-4 shifter shaft seals. By the time you get the second seal stuffed in on top of the old failed seal you could have been halfway through the correct way of doing it. I was tempted to do the stacking method but am so glad I didn't. There are plenty of write ups about doing this in the car. It may seem daunting but it just requires some fiddling around under there. The added benefit is having the chance to inspect the transmission gears and remove all of the old gear oil. The satisfaction of having done the seals and knowing exactly what is going on inside the transmission is peace of mind and priceless. No need to go back and try the stacking method again when the tin lip of the seal gets distorted or rubber seal lip gets feathered up from trying to stuff it in off angle from under the car.....which you won't know until the car is back together and has been driven only to leak again. Best of luck with the repair regardless of which path you take.

Thanks 70s, you've convinced me. I just changed the gear oil a couple weeks ago so that was my main reservation.

I rebuilt my 4spd, it leaked a little, left a puddle about the size of a quarter, I rechecked everything and then I cheated and used this.
