So I have a few questions about the rear diff in my 69 corvette I have rebuilt just about everything, 650 hp motor t56 willwood big break kit vansteele coil over suspension vintage air with dewitts rad and borgeson box and I autocross my car so the only thing I have not had rebuilt or replaced is my rear diff and the guy I bought the car from kept impeccable receipts and maintenance records and I was going through the paper work and my rear diff was rebuilt 41 years ago so how can you tell if the rear end is not 100 percent like worn springs and such, so what I am thinking is to replace rear end with a unit that I know is 100 percent . thanks

Records are good, are there any notes on how the diff was built? 41 years ago there were the common rebuilt diffs sold and Tom's custom. If iit is a 40 year old Tom's diff and it could be if it lasted years of racing, taking a look at the diff with the cover off would be what I would do.
41 years with some added abuse, you’ve probably got a good one.
If you are questioning how much life is still in it, pull it out and let Gary rebuild it.

Well there still is life still in it but with that many rears on those springs I just cant see it being 100 percent and I want 100 percent as I am stepping up my racing game and I am also going to install my Toms 31 spline outers with Toms bad *** half shafts thick wall .

one last note before I move on from this thread
I think we spoke at one point in length about how the setup is different for 31’s than 17’s. I you are setting them up you need to know what that is and if you had them done you need to know how they were set up it makes a huge difference

What always broke with me was the posi cases until I went to the Toms stage 7 with custom hardened yokes. I have the HD cover and polished out the inside and added a drain plug.
When I went to Tom's outers it scared me when I saw how bad the original 79s were. I had hammered the splines so badly that they were actually rotated a whole spline tooth, but never sheared
