I would like to change the timing chain and gear on my 1970 454. I changed them on my ‘72 small block without removing the radiator or shroud. Can you change the chain and gear on the BB without removing the radiator or shroud? Any input is appreciated.

You can do it reasonably easy. Here is a picture to prove it. I started out doing a much simpler task and then thought that I was this far in I might as well check the timing chain. Thought it might be off a tooth looking for a reason why I couldn't get enough rpm's out of the engine. Turned out to be a mis-calibrated tach and the engine was fine.
