One thing about that price (apart from olivier getting some nice cash there) is that if people pay that much for it they are most likely intending to restore it, I would hate to see the car parted out.

There's actually one local guy that looked already at the car that will bid on it before the auction ends. He has 2 1980 parts cars and can use all the mechanical parts off those cars.. After fixing up the Duntov - he can get rid of the 80' parts cars... So it should go at least to $5900.... however - I expect it to get above $6k now...
I hated seeing the car get wrecked, but it looks like you are definitly going to come out on top with this one  (ins. money + aution money)

Who Really Gives a S^&*t (54%, 12 votes) ????? WTF, this is a pretty lame thing and 12 people voted. Jeesh, real low bitching on someone who is trying to get the best out a disaster. How would you feel if you wrecked your vette?.
I'm sorry to see anybody's car get hit, let alone with a resulting negative financial consequence, and please forgive my ignorance, but isn't a "Duntov" basically just some aftermarket bodywork? Sorry, but the uniqueness must be over my head.

Duntovs were a small series of cars that could be ordered through Chevy dealers even though Chevy didn't do the conversion.. The conversion was done by American Custom Industries... It's a similar series like the Greenwood Corvettes with the main difference that much fewer Duntov's were produced... Furthermore... the body wasn't modified... it was replaced with a completely different body... All body panels were much higher quality than the regular GM body panels...
Sorry to see that happen to such a fine automobile.... :-(
It's sad.. Luckily - it looks like the car will be fixed up again to former glory... Several of the people that contacted me about the car are thinking in fixing the car up...

Re: 1980 Duntov Auction POLL (GrandSportC3)
Kinda sounds like someone might acquire it to repair it. This is a good thing. Looks like you'll get your money's worth out of it also. And this is another good thing.
