Do you have the distributor properly clocked? Chevrolet released a bulletin concerning the tach cable and repositioning the plug wires in the cap. Google for a paper by Lars Grimsrud on how to install the distributor and page down for the reclocking of the Corvette distributor.
I honestly don’t know. I’m a long time Mopar guy and with those if it’s out being a screw driver slot it’s 180degrees out. There is no one tooth off. The car runs so damned good now I don’t want to open that can of worms.
looking at it though it’s exiting towards #7 cylinder.
if it were to be more towards #5 it would directly interfere with the coil. Toward #3 it’s the shield and rear carb. I don’t see it being positioned better than it is right now anyway.
Tell you what, I prefer the electronic tach I have in my Charger to this right now.

So just read the paper I suggested to confirm whether or not it's correctly clocked
