Does anyone know what is behind this plate on the driver's side behind the brake master cylinder? I removed the steel plate and there was nothing but the firewall with two aluminum rivets, I would like to cut an opening in the fiberglass to be able to install the attaching nuts on a new power brake booster but concerned about what the two aluminum rivets are attached too. I sure would appreciate it if anyone had an answer. It would sure bake it easy to install a brake booster if there is noting behind it.

Any one have any idea what is behind this plate on the drivers side

If I recall correctly, those four bolts hold the brake/clutch pedal assembly in place, which is a pretty substantial piece of hardware. You will not be able to get to the power brake booster from that direction.

Unfortunately, you need to get at it from under the dash.

I know some folks claim that getting to the nuts on the booster is really hard, but I, and others, have done it fairly easily. Take the seat out (just 4 bolts), padding over the door sil, lay on your back. Use long ratchet extensions, universal joints, deep sockets, as needed.

It's not the worst job on the vette and it really helps if you just remove the drivers seat for most things under-dash related. (If the seatbelt runs through the back of the seat you can undo the bottom and fold it up and gain some room without having to remove the belt)

Hello, same question here, does anyone know what is behind that plate? I do know is not the booster pump.
