Default Tires!

I have a stock 75 VETTE. And I’m putting 17 inch Foose knuckle rims on it. What’s an all around tire that I don’t need to relocate the ebrake ??? Is 245/45/R17. Ok?

A lot will depend on the tire brand itself. Some have a fairly wide square tread / sidewall, some have a narrower tread but bulge a fair amount. A lot of people on here running 17" tires. There were some threads on just that, check them out and see what's being used (my e-brake brackets are relocated so what I have doesn't answer your question)

Personally I think the 245/45 is a bit too short and not much wider that a 235/55 which is over an inch taller.
But that's my $.02

Why not 245/50x17?

255/45/17 are the best choice. 50 series are dumb becasue tire diameters cause rub on lock to lock even with 4.5 BS. I have 9X17 with 4.5 bs

I have a 1970 with 235/50-17, on 8” wide with 4” back space wheel. The e brake is in original location and no rubbing whatsoever. I recommend Michelin Pilot Sports PS2 (N1) the tire has a tread ware rate of 220. When I changed from a BFG TA to the Michelin it was very noticeable difference in handling IMHO.

255/60/15 were the stock tires on my l82.

I think that skinny tires take away from the performance vette look

255/50-17 tire on 17x8 - 4” bs wheel. This will match the stock 255/60-15 27” tall tire.

Those Foose Knuckle wheels in 17x8 have 4.5 inch backspacing. That will "pull" the tires 1/2 inch back into the wheel well. Might not be the look you want. I know that's not what you were asking about but it is something to consider. I'd hate to see you buy wheels and tires, mount them and then discover that you aren't happy with the way they look. (I realize this is only 1/2 inch...)

If you haven't bought the wheels already, consider 18" wheels. There are LOT more tire options, and are more likely to continue in the future.

If you would have 255/45/17's you wouldn't need the 1/2 inch spacer because they are only 26 inch dia.

My front tires. I have both 255 and 275 fronts. 9 and 10 inch wheels.

255/50/17. TT II. 17" x 8", 4.07" backspace. Slight rub at full lock therefore, I don't go full lock. Stock e-brake location. No adapters at all, directly bolted to hubs.
