Default Headlight ****/Bezel

I just ordered a new headlight **** and bezel from Corvette Central. It came off in my hands last week in my '73 Coupe. It was original so doesn't surprise me.

So I've seen a few videos that show how to locate the small button on the switch behind the dash to release the rod. All the videos I've been able to find already have the switch out of the dash. Has anyone been able to crawl around and locate this button while still in the dash? I'd rather not remove my dash unless absolutely necessary. Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks

If Peterbuilt doesn’t chime in, try sending him a PM.
He is the guru on such things.
I pulled my headlight switch about two years ago, but I did it while stripping the full interior and can’t remember when or how I removed it.

Likewise, it’s been a while since I’ve been under there but you should be able to push the release button, pull the **** out and then screw the bezel off. Maybe google the switch so you can tell exactly where to push the button.

Here’s my two cents. I was able to remove the headlight switch bezel with the drivers dash pull out a few inches. I made a flat “Tool” with my Dremel so I woulda damage the bezel. Next I watched videos on how to push down the round ball, the ****/shaft came right out. I removed the large plug on the back of the headlight switch. I changed my burned out bulbs to non polarized LEDs, then plugged the plastic connector back into the headlight switch. Of course after getting the dash pad and everything put back together the dash lights would not come on. I opened up the drivers dash to find that the headlight plug was not oriented correctly (luckily I didn’t burn anything up). I had to remove the bezel/switch to install the plug, then reattach bezel to the dash. Oh, make sure the Ground on the back of the headlight switch is in the correct location. Good Luck

Default Removing the headlight switch

Remove the two bolts that hold the steering wheel to the bottom of the dash, let the steering column come down an inch or two, secure it with longer bolts but don't force it down or you can damage the column.
Remove the speedo and tach bezel screws and pull it out just enough to reach the headlight switch. be mindful of the duct work.
You only need to push the headlight button to remove the K ***. (#4)

Here's the button.

Now you can remove the switch.

Replace the switch and connect the vacuum hoses.

Hope this helps.
