Could the use of this gasket instead of one with a divider be causing my car to idle up after it has warmed up for 20 minutes. I tried looking all around the intake for a leak with the carb cleaner but didn't find any. I did notice a slow oil leak behind intake manifold. Any ideas guys? I already tried plugging the vacuum lines that feed to the brakes and lights and still no difference.
If you hold the gasket to the bottom of the carburetor, do you see anything exposed that would cause a leak?
Are you adjusting idle speed and mixture screws after the engine is fully warmed up?
if an automatic, are you adjusting in Drive?
To answer your question, no the lack of divider in your gasket is not the cause of your idle issue. If your gasket leaks to the outside, yes that is an issue.
another common problem is an intake leak where the manifold seals to the head. If it leaks in the valley it can be extremely hard to pin point.

The only thing I noticed was the an oil leak on the back of the intake manifold where the oil pressure sending unit is, from the unit itself and under that rear lip. The carb didn't seem to have any leaks all around it.
Testing for vacuum leaks.
take a propane torch. (Everyone has one of these I would think)
With engine warmed up and running. Turn on your propane torch but don't light it. Now, blowing the unlit propane point it along the edges of the intake manifold and along the base of the carb. Keep it away from the top of the carb.
If you have a leak, the propane will get sucked in and the engine will rev. And you'll know right where it's sucking.
However, if a intake manifold gasket has a vacuum leak on the valley side. Hard to find it. Sometimes it will cause oil burning, but not always.
Could be that it runs so bad when it is cold that it sorts itself out when warm.......don't toss out that idea.
In fact....do the Propane test stone cold.....
