Default 1974: Is this wire for Security System?

Just noticed 2 wires in the back compartment where the jack is stowed. One of them (black) is the wire for the passenger seat sensor. There is another one (orange) that has been disconnected. Does anyone know what this is for? Is this for the security system? Car is equipped with factory alarm, however it does not work. I cannot do much at the moment as the car is in hibernation.

Thanks in advance.

I can't speak about your 74, but on my 69 there are several sets of wires for the alarm system. One "pair" plugs into a flasher...just like your turn signal flasher. The other "sets" (don't remember....one 3 wire bundle and one 2 wire bundle???) plug into a "878" relay. This relay "arms" the alarm, and prevents it from shutting off when you close the door, hood, etc.

There are also wires for the courtesy light in the middle compartment back there too. Hope this helps. Chuck
