I've never understood why anybody would buy straight plug heads.
Well, according to post 9 (yours) if someone were to swap out their straight-plug heads for angle-plug heads, you have to buy new headers also.
That can get pricey, just to have sparkplug clearance.
So, the question becomes: How much extra horse for those angle-plug heads?
So, the question becomes: How much extra horse for those angle-plug heads?
let's say "Zero"! Originally OEM iron castings had a poor chamber design and the newer angle plugs placed the plugs in a better place had minor gains in higher compression racing motors. The real gain was head thickness and being able to use longer deep reach spark plugs over peanut plugs. .Modern chamber designs make more power and efficiency with both type of plugs
That why I said that it is very easy to cut the primaries off and reweld with a 1/2 inch extension.
I bought these Edelbrocks for a ridiculously good price...
I did what one poster above mentioned, and rotated the boot, I've got clearance now, not much, but enough.
I also have installed the heat proof boots, I even put them on the starter cables to prevent any damage down there, now I've just gotta wait for the weather to break so I can drive the blasted thing!
