If anybody could help me out with some pictures it would be greatly appreciated. I'm putting the nose on my 79 and need to see some closeups of the top rear of the fenders, both sides, where it transitions from the hood to the door. This would show me correct gaps, lineup with the windshield trim, etc. I want to make sure its perfect before bonding. Thanks in advance!!
Re: Please help me with some pictures! (Mystery Machine)
Hey, sorry i didnt read this post earlier, i cant get any pics today, but i'll go get some tonight. im probably going to grab the vette tonight for driving tomorrow, so i'll get some pics in the daylight too. thanks for the compliment on the gaps. it was kind of a mission to get those things to lookg right. we probably spent more hours on the gaps then we should have

Thanks Ben,
That's exactly what I was looking for. It looks as if my doors need to come up about 1/8" at the front. How many shims do you have in your door hinges? the front of the doors need to come out to line up with the nose, but I already have 4 at the bottom hinge. Just shim to fit?
Re: Please help me with some pictures! (79yellowlt1)
i have 3 shims on the bottom hinge, and 3 on top. we did the doors over a year ago but i remeber that we were able to get the gap even by unbloting the door, which you wouldnt have to do it all the way, and just adjusting while bolting. we also had to do a little build up, and teardown on the fiberglass to get it decent. im also running with out door springs. they kept breaking off the tip of the door  i'll take a pic for you.
Thanks guys, the pictures and the specs are a huge help. I have the assembly manual, I must have missed that page. The more I learn about shims, the more horrified I am at the factory assembly of these cars! That might be an interesting post. Everyone compare how many shims they have in doors, body, hood, etc.!!!!!
You get get DAMN close - as evidenced by both Paul's and Mark's photos.
You can always build the edge up with bonding adhesive if adjustments aren't
possible.
Wow! My hood conversation ended up in a completely different thread!!! What do you think about that shim post, Dave? Maybe find out just how twisted C3's were from the factory???
