Default What would you buy first?

Income tax check coming in and the wife is "letting me have" $1000 to spend on the Vette. What would you buy first if your Vette were bone stock and you were not concerned about "#'s matching"? I'm thinking rear suspension stuff. Just would like to see what others opinions would be. Thanks :flag

I might do all the basic bolt-on upgrades such as headers, electric fans, carb rebuild and maybe a new set of polyurethane bushings for the suspension to make a nicer ride.

Man, 1000 can go pretty fast. :smash:

If the suspension in worn i would do that first along with numerically higher gears for the feeling of more power.
If the suspension is fine, id get some good iron heads along with a cam swap.

JVette73, It is an '80. The interior definately needs help, but that was going to be last on my list of things to do. Engine is already pretty healthy. Otherwise, everything else is stock. Rear wheels were leaning in pretty good, so I have that tore apart already. The front looks like it has all poly bushings. I think I have my mind made up on the rear suspension. I (actually I means the wife)really want a smooth ride. To all else, thanks for the input and keep them coming. I'm ALWAYS willing to listen to what the "experts" (people who actually own a Vette) have to say. THANKS :flag

greatgonzoglenn...

Rear suspension help is also on my *to-do* & *to-buy* list. We are all going different directions with these C-3's(I want to stiffen my suspension), so wander around through the posts on the forum and you are bound to find something that will work for you.

A fair warning! This group loves spending other C-3 owner's dough. Don't get too involved in it or you might end up going off the far end like some others have done here. I won't mention any names(they know who they are), but one of'em just wrote this post.

Sanderson headers just showed up! Yippeeeeeeeeeee!!

Adjustable strut rods = $200
Sanderson headers = $550

Headers, 2.5" true duals, X or H pipe, and your choice of mufflers :yesnod:. Get what you WANT with the money, and then tell the wife you need to spend more to fix what NEEDS to be done

I would go with the suspension first. That is where I always start. I always choose to do the chassis first. Get is squared away and then move onto the engine/tranny. Interior and finally paint.
