Correct ARP SS Intake Manifold Bolts
Does anyone know what would be the correct ARP stainless steel intake manifold bolts for a 350 with an Edelbrock Performer manifold? I have been told the part number is ARP 434-2001, but others have said these are too short to torque properly.
Thank you
434-2001, Hex head, stainless, 1" under head length. $36
435-2101 12 pt head, stainless, 1 & 1/4" UHL $56
434-2101 12 pt, stainless, no length given. $38
Here is what can happen if the bolts are too short. They could strip out the first few threads of the cyl head and not seal the Intake gasket.
However, I don't believe Eddy Intakes are any thicker than stock. So, a one inch should be plenty.
Here is what can happen if the bolts are too long. In rare cases with after-market heads, the bolts could rub the pushrods.
I think I would stick with the one inch. Do not use a washer. The ARPs have a built-in washer.
In the event that an extra thick Intake gasket is needed, then yes, go with the longer bolts.
12 point are superior to hex head when tightening in confined spaces. And 12 pt look so much better.
But I don't know if the 434-2101 are one inch.
