I have a read a number of posts on this and haven't been on this board in a while. I picked up a 1982 from a friend of mine that has owned it for 42 years since they bought it from a local dealership. It has had a draw on the battery for the last 30 years and the previous owner just put a blade switch on the negative battery terminal. I found it was the buzzer for the key in the ignition, seatbelt and headlight warning. Part #: 14004971, does anyone know of anyone that repairs these modules. I can find used ones, but they haven't been tested. Thanks in advance for any advice.
I have an 82 and I also have a blade switch on it. I purchased this car new, and if used regularly thee is no issue. If it sits for a while, the battery will drain out. One item is the clock, which is electric and is a constant connection. I am sure there are other constant connections.

I have not heard of anyone repairing this module in my 30 years experience with the 82. I use a blade in my 82 as well and works just fine. If you buy one of fleeBay, just hope for the best. Besides, they are not a lot of money anyway. GL
Buccaneer and Lestat52, on either of your cars, does the warning buzzer still work for the seatbelt, key in the ignition and headlight? If not try unplugging the black box on the fuse panel but leave the plug in the box and the grey wire from the box to the fuse block and see if your battery still goes dead.
Hi LS6 Motor, all the buzzers still work on my car. Right now it in storage as I am building a new house, and had no place for the vette at my temporary rental, so it is in offsite storage.
I bought the car new and the battery has always drained out if it sits for awhile. In normal use it is not a problem but right now it is sitting for quite awhile so the blade switch.

No, my buzzer works OK, I just don't like listening to it and unplugged it, issue solved. I also like to keep my battery disconnected since it doesn't get driven much anyway.
The rectifier actually got so hot it caught the plastic cover on fire. luck have it I still had the original alternator, previous owner changed it trying to fix something but ended up being something else and he gave me the original. Put it on and haven't had a problem since. I made a post on here when it happened if you want to see pics. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...r-smoking.html
