Default 81 Turn Signal Hell

Looking for some advice. Thank you in advance. I am having the following issue.

1. My left turn signals work fine minus the left rear side marker
2. My right turn signals turns on the hazards. Go figure........
3. My flashers work but only with the headlights off
3. When I turn on the lights my flashers and turn signals don't flash

I changed the bulbs, cleaned the sockets, changed the flasher and even changed the turn signal switch. The only thing I can think of, is there is an orange and white wire dangling in the back that had a small light socket on it (194) and I am not sure what he used it for. Maybe the PO pulled those wires for towing purposes? Please see photo: I took the light socket off the orange and white wires to test disconnected, but there was no change. Any idea what those were for of that has something to do with the craziness? They are next to the license plate socket which works (the blurry white blob in the photo).

It would help if you listed the model year of your Corvette. Since the PO has altered the wiring, you really need to obtain a wiring schematic so you can trace where each wire goes (or where it’s supposed to run to). If you do have a Chevrolet Factory Service Manual, you can try looking on the internet, remember that Chevrolet changed the wiring ever few years, One Size Does Not Fit All for our C3 Cars.

I bet it's an 81.

I had the ground wire connector fail inside a stock taillight socket. Hard to diagnose, easy to replace.

Sorry guys. It is an 1981. I did find out that the wires hanging down are for the spare tire light.

Problem solved. It was a single filament bulb in a double filament socket. Amazing how much havoc that can cause. Rule of thumb. 3 wires = double filament.
