Dear Paul,
Thanks for the kind words about Oz. You should come out for a visit and we'll make you welcome. I will extend the same offer to your sister if she comes to Melbourne. Are you going to the Birthday Party in June? If so, I hope to see you there.

John,
My sister is thinking about Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne. As she's already spent a lot of time in Sydney she's got the other 2 higher on the list. She'd very likely appreciate a friendly face, as Melbourne is the one place that we don't know anybody. Better watch her though - she's very partial to Smirnoff Ice :D
Can't make June as I'm getting married  Hold up, did you mention a party? I could be tempted to do that instead! Is there a free bar?
We may be coming over in 2004 (but I'm trying to delay it: a "friend" has shown a load of your countrymen a wedding video she took here last summer. Now they're all begging me to come over so they can pour a few beers down my neck. Apparently I'm "Good Value", whatever that means! :( ). We'll definately "do" Brisbane & Tassie, maybe Perth as well. Thanks for the offer, if I come over I'll post a "Pohm in transit "warning "
Maurice, you left out the bit that makes it rhyme, septic tank rhymes with yank, qed, american.
I thought it was because we are all full of crap. Which wouldn't be too far off for the most part. I could only find out what it meant, not how it got its meaning on my quick google search.
Maurice,I wasn't sure if you guys has septic tanks(or at least called them that)and i wasn't sure if the conjunction of yank and septic tank would be appreciated....please understand that it isnt meant to be offensive....it is just the use of common words that rhyme....our diction may be bad,but as a nation, reasonably literate...john
No offense taken. We also call them septic tanks, and being called a yank is a lot nicer than what I am usually called anyway :) I kinda got the whole rhyming thing earlier but couldn't make the connection...Anyway..No offense taken here.
Chris,
We'll definately be visiting Brisbane. A mate married a farmer who lives near Stanthorpe & is top of our visiting list (got to go there anyway as there's a video I want to destroy  ). She keeps joking about getting us out fruit picking, so meeting up with a forum member & talking Vettes sounds a much better idea :D
Paul,
Brisbane is a lovely place, I was up there a fortnight ago, but it gets incredibly humid at this time of the year. Even us Mexicans get knocked out by it, let alone someone from old blighty. Melbourne, however, is a lot further south and has a more Mediterranean climate. Nevertheless, the beer in both cities is served cold and is all the better for it. You just drink more in the warmer city  Congratulations on your nuptials, but have you thought about suggesting to your bride that you should have an overseas honeymoon? Somewhere away from the big cities, in the beautiful rolling pastures of say, the south eastern United States of America. Bowling Green, perhaps? When I got married, we had our honeymoon in Perth, Western Australia. By sheer coincidence, the Australian National Drag Racing Championships just happened to be on a couple of miles away while we were there. Fair Dinkum!! ;) ;) And our marriage has lasted for almost 13 years.
Whatever you do, enjoy!
Hi John,
Had a lot of good reports of Brisbane, including the drought (your farmers are really suffering from it :( ). Cold beer is always good with me :D
A honeymoon is a bit tricky as we've spent all our money on the wedding (I can't believe the cost of it all, as soon as you mention the word "Wedding" the price of everything just gets an extra "0" put on the end!), plus I've just bought a 200-4r tranny, but I'm keeping quiet about that one
Spookily enough(!), my GF suggested 2 nights ago that we just get a loan out for a honeymoon & take off to the US sometime to try & catch some of the 50th anniversary Vette things, buy some Vette parts & maybe go to Bowling Green!! I'm keeping my trap shut so that in out "twilight years" she can't accuse me of making her spend her honeymoon looking at cars :lolg: I guess it's pretty obvious why I'm marrying her ;)
Heck of a coincidence that the Drag Racing clashed with your Honeymoon - I hope married life didn't spoil the racing for you? ;) We were supposed to have been in Perth last month visiting mates & going to see the solar eclipse (they're awesome - if you get the chance to see one, grab it), but we had to cancel as we decided to get hitched. Our mates love Perth & have imported an English tradition by starting up a..... Morris Dancing team :D I used to think Morris Dancing was weird until I discovered that they're supplied with FREE BEER :D What an excellent tradition! The funny thing is that our mates aren't even English - he's Irish & she's German  It's a funny old world!
Regards from Up Over!

There are two strong vette clubs in melb...we will be able to arrange something....i drive on the GP track the rest of the year...hopefully the new rules will make the racing more interesting this year..i really prefer the GP bikes..a much better spectacle..john :chevy
Dear Standup,
I agree with jdunne, contact either of us by e-mail letting us know your arrival and departure dates and we will organise something. Just tell us what you want specifically, and we will try to line something up. We might even be able to take you on one of our runs as we have plenty at this time of year.
