Default Which speakers would you use?

Good afternoon corvetteforum

On my search for the last bolt of the evaporator box I took out the passenger side dash panel. Inside installed in the dash I found Pioneer ts-g4641r speakers.

From what I’ve found online they seem to be “good for the money” speakers, but that begs the question…

I have a Custom Autosound 740 radio and soundbar. I put the speakers that came with the kit in the footwells, knowing someday I would put them in the dash. Looks like todays the day!

Should I use the Pioneer speakers or the Custom Autosound ones? I’ll put specs of the speakers below, but I wouldn’t know the first thing at knowing which one is “better” without actually hearing them.

Pioneer:

Custom Autosound:

Luckily they work on an 83’

Any help would be appreciated.

I really doubt you'll notice any difference. They're both open air 4X6 and they're both decent speakers, I wouldn't bother swapping them. If they work OK, then leave the Pioneers as is.

My guess is the Pioneers are better. I like the materials they are made of.
If the custom autosound ones have common cardboard speaker cones, you will like the Pioneers better. Crisper. And less subject to moisture. And that is a good tweeter, but you will be able to hear it in the dash, not by your ankle. You need something in the dash that has a good tweeter like that. The rest of the size of the dash speaker does not matter as long as you have bigger ones by your ankles.

My bad you already have these 4*8s in your dash with good tweeters. Should sound pretty good. Now try to get another set like that, or bigger, for the footwells.
