1970 Ignition Question
I am getting my 1970, 454, 4-speed car started after it sat for decades. The steering column had a stripped gear, so I tore it apart, replaced the gear and replace the ignition switch as a safeguard. Lars did the carb, worked through all the distributor setting/wires to make sure all is good. The car will fire and run pretty good, BUT it will turn off once I let the key go back to the RUN position (it will only run in the START position). I did not want to harm the starter, so I stopped and am seeking help.
Thoughts on where I may have missed something? Is the rod going into the ignition switch a bit off?? I know the ignition switch can move a bit forward or back, so I was thinking this could be the issue.

There are 2 wires that go to the + post on the coil. One comes from the starter and has 12V only in start.
The other comes from the ignition switch and has ~9V power anytime the key is on.
That's where you check.
