I have a 9 Leaf Rear Spring that I removed from my 1973 L-82. The Mount Plate Bolts are 7/16" X 3 5/8" long. I ordered New Mount Bolts from Zip Corvette #SU832 and they are 9/16". I checked to see if I ordered wrong, but it seems most all variations of suspension 9 leaf or 7leaf all say 9/16" gauge bolts. Is this correct and if so why does my Rear Carrier have 7/16' Bolts ?. Any and all input is welcome.
You do not have the original cover/differential. It is a 78/79 cover/differential. What is the width of the spring, 2.25(73) or 2.5(78/79)?
It sounds like your 73 has a rear, or at least the rear end cover, from a 78-79 Corvette. The 63-77 rear cover uses 9/16" spring plate bolts, the 78-79 rear cover gets 7/16"x3" spring plate bolts (80-82's take a metric bolt). You can get the 7/16" bolts from most Corvette vendors.
