Default Which EFI for a mild 454?

My car's latest trip to the shop showed that it is killing plugs with fuel. Rather than buy a smaller carb, I'd rather just upgrade to EFI.

It is a stock bottom end 454 with aluminum heads, mild cam, and 4 speed.

I like the look of the FiTech Go EFI 4 600HP System, and it seems pretty easy to install. Is there any reason to do anything more complex?

I have a early version of the FiTech 400. Must be at least 4yrs now. No timing control on mine. It has been working great for me.
I built my own in tank fuel delivery system.
For you, by what you stated, it shoud be good. Guys have issues with all brands, you can find pros and cons in all brands.
My experience with FiTech is good.
I would try to contact them directly and discuss your concerns and needs.
YES, they will try to sell there products to you. But you'll get that from all sellers.
I'll help what I can..

I would make sure it's electronic as much as the system can.

EFI for fuel delivery, O2 sensor smart learning to get started easly. (also allows for custom tuning)

But without Spark timing it really won't get you much more than old style carb setups. (using AFR Tuning)

I had a ZZ383 setup (Carb) with O2 sensor to tune AFR, but also added a MSD box to tune timing curve. This would be like a basic EFI Setup.

Next I upgraded to a LS3-480 Crate engine. Now everything is controlled. MUCH MUCH Better than a carb / Basic EFI Setup.

I would contact Holley to see what they can supply. You need all engine specs for them to make a good suggestion. Cam size, head type, intake type, compression ratio, trans type and any other details that can help.

If you start venturing toward the Holley products, I would recommend EFI Systems Pro. They specialize in EFI systems from Holley and in my opinion provide better customer service and support than Holley does. They would be able to give you recommendations, and provide you with all of the necessary equipment for the conversion. On top of that, if the stuff is purchased from them, they provide you with pretty high end customer support to get you through all kinds of issues from installation to advance tuning.

EFI Systems Pro

I hope this helps, it is another avenue to explore.
