Bypassing the heater core.

Bypassing the heater core.
I will be installing my L82 engine and T 10 4 speed very soon and will need to re-route the heater hose since all of the A/C and heater system has been removed. Vintage A/C to be installed at later date.
this all started with a bad exhaust valve thinking I could rebuild the heads now a major repair it all kind of thing. I just want to get this car back on the road and tackle the rest as funds are available.

One pipe plug in the intake manifold, another in the water pump. That way you don't have a hose just sitting there looking stupid.
I live in Houston and see no good reason to even have a heater.

Sure there is!
Just take it the tank hose back to the engine on the other hose out of the heater.

Still have to either adapt the hose's as they are different diameters, which is what that fitting does, or change the fitting on the intake. For some reason the engineers made the hoses two different sizes. The only think I can think of it keeping the flow from getting crossed.

The outlet hose from the core to the water pump is a larger diameter so the unit pressure is always lower on the outlet side than the inlet side, to enhance continuous flow through the core.
The heater circuit does serve as a bypass (except on A/C cars, which shut off the inlet hose when the A/C is on), all small-blocks have a built-in internal bypass circuit in the passenger side leg of the water pump which pulls coolant out of the block into the inlet side of the water pump when the thermostat is closed. So just plugging off the system is fine.

Thanks for the quick solution..I live just south or Tomball. Hoping to get my engine and 4 speed back into the vette with the least of problems.
