New Steering Rack Too Low?

I am looking for a 68-69 to call my own and saw a very good option this weekend. A previous owner installed a new steering rack with a new Bracket bolted to the frame that hovers just 3 inches off the ground. Everything else about the car is pretty good - it drives nice and the price is not bad at all.
Any thoughts about this dilemma? In the worst case scenario, what would a new steering rack cost?
BTW, I'm thinking Restomod so not at all concerned about originality. I can't afford to be a purist.

They didn't have a steering rack from the factory so is it aftermarket or are you unfamiliar with what you were looking at? Photos?

I have a Flaming River rack on my 78 and it does not hang any lower than the oil pan. And mine also has a bracket that bolts to the frame.

First bump you hit, you will leave that problem behind. See if the owner still has the stuff he took off. Fix that up and put it back on and then reevaluate.

Does it look like this? Mine has never hit and the oil pan is lower.
