Chevrolet part numbers before 79-80 were either 6 or 7 numbers, without any breaks and usually started with "3". From about 1980 on, new part numbers were 8 numbers with no breaks and started with "14".
15-6844 may be an AC Delco part number since they are often hyphenated, but if it is it's a discontinued number because it doesn't turn up on a search at Delco's website. If I get a chance later I'll see if I can find one of my old paper Delco catalogs and see if it's listed.
Couldn't agree more. Lose that horrible thing. You can put in a spacer, or sometimes that's not even needed. Enough slack in the exhaust to just pull it up that little bit. Depending on the exhaust system to be certain.
If you do run the car in sub zero weather. Perhaps it could be useful for quicker warm ups. If your still running the stock intake manifold and it's not all blocked up with carbon.
Part number recommended seems correct.
i suggest spacer as it gives more clearance to starter but as mentioned has enough slack.
i rn cold weather and it adds time to choke warm up but not enough to care.
note the spacer i got needed the holes enlarged…
