Where should I look first?
Well, at everything. You could get more in detail about the clunk. Like when does it clunk, etc. But there are a few things to look for under there. Probably start with the U joints.
Did it clunk with the old tires on? When is the clunk heard? Remember, with the car jacked up you shouldn't spin the wheels as the half-shaft angle is too acute.

If it's an automatic and it clunks going into gear, the rubber pinion snubber bushings are worn.
