Default 1968 Gas Pedal Assembly

I have a 1968 with the OEM pedal assembly. As with many, mine has bent and I no longer have wide open throttle. I have purchased a 1969L pedal rod based on someone saying it was a direct bolt in. Well it isn't. There is a requirement for an Accelerator Pedal Rod Pivot (Zip CZ-1071 or Keen 410431). It looks to me like there is supposed to be a metal cover plate to that pivot and a bracket that sandwiches between the two. Nobody seems to sell the cover or bracket.

It doesn't look like the cover would be too hard to make. I am not even sure whether the bracket is needed. Does anyone have experience with this?

I have a '69 which I changed to the later style one piece rod. I just used 2 Zip CZ-1071 rod pivots, one upside down on top the other to sandwich the rod in and bolt it down. Or you could make a cover cut from a piece of plastic to match.

C3 Stroker great thinking! Second pivot ordered. What about the bracket, is it necessary?

bend it back and go with it. If it bends again weld a reinforcement gusset on it. I bent mine back into shape years ago and it was fine right up until the plastic base broke.

No, I did not need the bracket.

That's what I did at first, but it's only a temporary fix. The newer rod is permanent and was the reason for the change.
