Wiper motor not working and when it comes to electrical I’m a noob. But I’ve done the following:
-purchased correct new motor to replace original ( so motor shouldn’t be issue)
-when installed and key on, I hear power at dash, but no motor movement
- fuse appears ok
- when I put multimeter to wiring harness that feeds to motor. I put red wire to middle white wire and black ground to bottom grey wire and have 12v. When I put ground to top purple, nothing. When I put ground to the other black separate ground wire I get 12v. Appears the purple wire is not grounding? I’ve bent plugs though so top purple harness doesn’t get plugged in and done a separate ground with a wire but still doesn’t move motor.
- checked grounds, aka purple , grey and separate black wire. Purple was at about 7ohms, grey and black near zero (using x1K ohm setting)
- verified 12v to middle white wire, no voltage to grounds
- when I turn key and turn on wiper, I get a “click, click, click, click” sound in dash….so feel like switch and fuse are working
- note: my AC is only other thing inoperable on the car, but I don’t think that should matter
Had almost the same occurrence with my 78 that would only park the pax side arm/blade??
My Vette guy said that the three pronged switch was 180* out and that fixed it!!!
I sent the new one back to ZIP and got a refund no questions asked!!!
