Default Radio and speakers

Hey there, I just bought the c3 corvette radio off of crutchfield. I am looking for tips and advice on a nice smooth installation. I know many of you have done it. Also I would like recommendations on speakers for the kick plate area. I heard 5.25 will fit and I also heard 6.5 will fit. I am leaning towards round speakers. My car is a 1976 L48. Thank you!

Here are the replacement speakers I put in my 1968 kick plate areas....not sure about fitting the 1976 car however. They are 4" by 6".

Start at post 26 for the speakers I used. Not saying use my speakers, but that size worked in my ‘75. Hope this helps.
