when i bought my car it did not have a electric and vacuum over ride switch for the wiper.I like to put them back now.
At the limit switch i have a black and gey wire. Under the tach i can not see a wire hanging around.
Did all 68 corvettes have the override switch or was this a option?
On the wire diagrams as i understand the 68 switch is controlled by ground and the 69 switch is controlled by 12 V + , is this correct ?
What color should the wire have at the switch, or must i run a new cable?
If there is nothing, can i interupt the wiper relais wire?
Thank you in advance.
Jürgen

On a 1968 wiring diagram, the switch shows it is grounded on one side (black) and likely thru the mounting bracket and the terminal wire color is brown (or?) blue and white. The blue and white wire goes to a large firewall plug and then a brown and white wire goes on to the under the hood limit switch.
Override switch is center and slightly to the right.

Took a look at my car (built in mid June of 1968) and the wire is brown with a large black fast-on. Switch ground connection is thru the bracket. May need a ground connection to the bracket other than the screws but I did not see it.

the switch is there to stop the wipers in the up position so you can change the blades. Those wires go to the switch, the switch must be grounded for the wipers to work. When the switch is open the wipers stop but the wiper motor will still have power. If the switch is left open on a 1968 corvette it will drain the battery.
Thanks for the help.
I found the brown/white wire for the switch, somebody had it pluged to the tach housing on a ground connector.
I bought a 2 pin switch, not the one like above, but i run a extra ground wire to the switch, so it also has a good ground connection.

that is true, but when i bought the switch here in germany, I did not know how it should look like and nobody told me. Anyway it is working now and i can replace it quick and put the ground wire to the bracket, that i bought used in England. It is not than easy get parts here like in US.

Sorry, forgot you are in Germany and its harder to get parts over there. Use that switch and run the ground to the other spade. Im used to folks being here in the states and being able to get things easily. I just have issues with big companies buying smaller companies and then cutting corners for max profit which just screws us over.
