You might need a longer alternator belt (if you can find one that works at the limit of the bracket adjustment).
My 79 L48 came with tall valve covers, put on by the previous owner because he thought they looked cool. They did NOT look cool, and the added complexity of juggling with the fan belt caused me to go back to stock.
I hope you need them to cover taller rocker arms. Not worth it just for appearance, IMHO.
Oh but they do look cool.
Are worth over 50 horse.
Do clear the booster easily.
Do clear the ALT easily with the correct belt.
Usually come with a breather / PVC baffles.
Often come with built-in drippers.
Are better than those cheap stamped steel covers because they clamp down on the gasket better.
I ran em on my 77 for a few years a fair few years back. Air-con compressor bracket brace would not fit.
Ran without that brace for those years and it was fine.
I used the comp cams cast aluminum ones. The factory valve covers wouldn't clear the roller rockers, and was sort of stuck. Just need a little bit longer alternator belt, and everything fit fine.
The passenger side one is a little difficult to remove with the AC compressor, I have to completely unbolt it, in order to remove that one.
I have the Edelbrock Tall valve covers. They cost a pretty penny, but they look good. If you have a/c, you will have to modify the bracket just a tad. You can either bend it or shim it. Sorry this should have been first picture.
