My antenna is stuck up, it works fine as far as the radio goes, but I want to at least be able to remove it for the winter so I can use my car cover. I’ve watched a few videos and it seems like I am missing pieces, but still confused. The only thing I have over the hole is a small black ring that houses the antenna (not pictured) I don’t want to go as far as trying to get to the motor if there is an easier fix I am missing… it does not unscrew from its housing and I only have a small amount of play up and down. Attached is a photo, please advise.
I have seen so many in-operative antennas caused by bad grounds or loose wiring. The antenna on my C4 was stuck until I reconnected a broken ground strap which suddenly woke up my antenna.
You have early 79 with the 78-79 aluminum housing antenna.
Nylon cable that raises and lowers it is broken.
No fix without removing it from the fender.
Should have an insert like this.....
Do a search 78 power antenna repair and a lot of threads will pop up.
