Default 1982 FE7 Rear Spring

I know this topic has been bet to death, but I'm not having any luck finding the correct steel spring for the car. It is a 9-leaf spring and is 2-1/2" wide. I bought the car from a friend who was the original owner and it was a base model car except for the FE7. Does anyone reproduce this spring? I have tried numerous venders, but when you start asking question, most don't know and will sell you anything. I have never really got a definitive answer on the rate for this spring either. Any information is appreciated, thanks.

I got mine from Duntov Motors but not sure if they are still selling them. Eaton Detroit Spring is another source you can try.

Pretty sure 81 and 82 used a fiberglass spring for standard and a 2 1/4" wide 7 leaf steel for FE7.
78-80 standard spring were 2 1/2" nine leaf steel.
1/8th" spacers were used fore and aft with FE7.
Maybe someone replaced either the original FE7 or standard spring sometime in the last 40 years.

The spring is original, still has the yellow stencil markings on it. The original owner who is a friend gave me all the documentation right down to gas slips. I reached out to Eaton Spring, the ones they manufacture aren't scalloped on the ends, they are square.

Mine are not square from eaton…just did this here..in great detal. Exact curl like oem? No but pretty damn close. Oem does flare out a little width wise..
maybe the spring was replaced with a 9 ? It still could have markings in yellow.
and learned a lot.. note orignal gymkhana spring 79 were 6 leaf, 7 is the replacement, and yup 2 1/4 wide. You need spacers to fill in if 2.5 nches i am very happy with my eaton spring.

I called Duntov Motors, they have the 9-leaf spring. Two springs for 81-82, base had a composite spring for weight savings and FE7 had a steel spring. My car has the rear sway bar and I found the original build sheet under the passenger seat cushion which shows the special suspension. The person at Duntov was very knowledgeable and reading their tech info shows people inquire about the springs all the time. At any rate, I got it from them and the price was reasonable.

Did the car sit up a lot higher like you had air shocks in it?

No, ride height was perfect and within the original specs.
