I have a 77’ with an L-82. And I’m looking into a new aluminum radiator from
Cold Case. I was reading on other forums and different websites that there was a problem with the radiator hoses. They are saying that the inlet and outlet necks on the radiators are a different diameter than the hoses. Has anybody experienced anything like this with the hoses not fitting.
I have a 1968 BB Corvette and it ran hot with the factory radiator so I put a "Be Cool" aluminum radiator for my C3. It fit perfectly and had the correct size hose ends in the right places. The Be Cool radiator is a fairly good product and has lasted over 20 years in my C3 with lots of miles behind it. There was absolutely no modification needed to install the Be Cool Radiator. I would strongly recommend the "Be Cool" radiators to other Corvette owners. They are fairly priced and built to last out of beautiful aluminum. After looking at their website I was shocked to see radiators are a lot more expensive than the last time I bought one. I checked and Be Cool does make a radiator for your 1977 Corvette.
Eastwood company sells aftermarket radiators for cars that like to run warmer than normal. Good luck on your search and I hope you find a reasonable price for a new radiator!
I have a Coldcase radiator in my 74 L48. It fit really well and no issues with hose sizes. My only complaint is the drain pepcock is too close to the rad mount
Had a Champion radiator put in around Christmas on our 75, $460 out the door for the radiator, free shipping. Due to health reasons i had it installed $410, they did it in under 4 hours, no leaks, no mods, still runs at 200.
Just thought I'd point out news2me. There is a sticky thread at the top of this forum. Aluminum radiators, hundreds of posts and full of information on this topic.
1976 was a split year with some cars using the 73-76 radiator and some using the 77-79. The inlet sizes were different between the two different radiators used in 76, so I could see how this could be a issue on a 76, but all 77's used the same radiator and hoses.
