Vacuum checkvalve too stiff?
I started through corvette101's vacuum checking section and immediately went to check my (ahem) check valve. It was not checking and feeling quite pleased with my brilliant diagnostic ability, I purchased a new check valve from the local OReilley's. Now this was not so much a 'correct' replacement as it was 'the only checkvalve that looked remotely similar' that they had, 2 ports one side, one on the other. After a quick drive back home, I shut off the car and, lo and behold, the headlights still had vacuum to close! Unfortunately, while running, the headlights seem to be operating muuuch slooower than they were before. Blowing through the checkvalve felt fairly resistant, could this be the cause? Or is my diagnosis incomplete? (which it probably is anyway!)
