1. what are set-up springs?
2. is there anyone who makes a air/fuel monitor that i do not need to install?
3. Why does my car load up after i run her hard?
4. is there a book i can buy to walk me though setting up my carb?
I have the complete performer rpm kit in a 350 punched 60 over.
thanks for any help. :smash:
You need to get an air/fuel mixture guage on it to see if it is rich or lean,it sounds like it is too rich.....suspect the power circuit or the float level....the edel carbs are very sensitive to fuel pressue,so check what pressure is.....i found that the pressure was fluctuating upwards and then overwhelming the floats, gave the same symptoms as yours....bogging at idle, stalling on overrun and rich as second stage opens but revved cleanly once past that transition point...john :chevy

:iagree: I use a Holley #803 regulator set at 5 1/2 lbs.
cool i will start with pressure checking. i just ordered the fuel line with filter, pressure guage, and fuel regulator. I have a stock pump for now. i will set the pressure for 6psi and see if that will help.
One thing you will need is the carb. calibration kit. it contain different size jet springs and etc. I think I paid around $60.00 for mine. Also if you have the 1406 carb. (1405 with electric choke) get the calibration kit for the 1405, it has jets designed more for performance.
The step up springs help with tuning how much gas is going in. They are very easy to change. Also the factory secondary jet aren't going be enough to rev past 4500, I would swap it out with the 104 jet that should let you rev past the 6000 mark.

There may be part of your problem. The stock type fuel pump puts out 7 to 9 lbs.
