I need a little help. I recently purchased a 1982 corvette the wiring is in bad shape the motor no longer has the crossfire set up but does have the ecm. My question is does the crossfire wiring at the firewall control any of the interior gauges?
Other than the check engine light the ECM doesn't control any instrumentation. Be aware that the oil pressure sending unit wiring is part of the engine management system harness and then connects to the dash harness behind the seats.
Actually you can get rid of all of the engine management system wiring, just save the one oil pressure sending unit wire. For lock up, I've found the TransGo 700-LU works really well. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/trg-700-lu
By using the Camaro/diesel spring in the kit it holds off 4th gear until about 45 MPH and then locks up the converter at about 47 MPH, all hydraulically without any wiring. The only catch is it only works with the earlier valve bodies which you probably have already.

That is a shame that your "New to You" Corvette has wiring issues. There are companies that make reproduction wiring harness' that are accurate and well laid out. I would use that option before making hundreds of terminations on miles of wire to fix the original harness.
With help of this Forum you should have fewer issues restoring your 1982 Corvette.
